So, sitting here looking at a blank blogpost screen is doing nothing for me. Honestly, it’s not. So this might end up a whole bunch of nothing but randomly connected strings of thought.
Want to know where we landed? Powder blue jerseys in baseball.
So, here we go without any further distractions.
Powder blue jerseys were around in the 1970s and 1980s, presented as an alternative to grey but also coexisting with the all orange of the Orioles, the all yellow of the Pirates and holy Pirates you had SO MANY BAD COMBINATIONS IN THE 1970s!!!! Like, seriously. All that mix and match is terrible for an identity. Anyways, moving on.
There is a powder blue revolution going on, with teams such as the Blue Jays, Cardinals, Rangers, and others readopting full on powder blue. They even have the gall to take a road jersey, as powder blues were intended to be worn, and wear them at HOME!!!
The only teams that should be wearing power blue are teams that have a blue focused identity. By my count, only the Royals and the Blue Jays qualify here. The Royals properly use the powder blue on top of white or grey pants, while the Blue Jays go full out and wear powder blue pants as well. If you are going to go that far, okay, but maintain it as a road jersey. No wearing it at home. The Blue Jays already have an amazing set. White home, grey road, and a royal blue third. They all look amazing, and no need to dilute it with powder blue. That being said, if you are going to, slap Toronto on front and use it on the road only.
That said, I’m a big fan of the hat and it’s one of my favourite Blue Jays hats I own.
The Blue Jays also have worn their Canadian red alternates way too much this past season. Way to much is more than once, maybe twice a year. I love it on Canada Day, as it should be. Know what else should be? The jerseys being sold online so that I can purchase myself the jersey.
I’ll be back tomorrow.
